What is KrisFlyer?

KrisFlyer is the frequent-flyer programme of Singapore Airlines. Members earn miles through eligible flights, selected partners and participating rewards programmes, then redeem them for travel rewards.

Redeemable miles and elite status are different. Miles are a currency you can spend; elite status is recognition earned under separate qualification rules.

02

How to earn KrisFlyer miles

Common paths include eligible Singapore Airlines and partner flights, hotel or shopping partners, and transfers from participating bank rewards programmes.

Before transferring bank points, check the conversion ratio, minimum block, processing time and fee. Move points only when you understand the intended redemption and have checked availability.

03

How to use miles

The best-known use is redeeming eligible flights. Mileage, cash charges and availability depend on the itinerary, cabin and award type. Compare the complete redemption cost with a cash fare before committing.

04

Understanding value

A KrisFlyer mile has no single guaranteed cash value. Subtract unavoidable taxes and charges from a comparable cash fare, then divide the remainder by the miles required to estimate value for that booking.

05

Expiry and rules

Miles are not cash and loyalty currencies can expire or change in value. Check the validity shown in your account and avoid building a balance without a realistic use in mind.

06

Beginner mistakes

  • Transferring points before confirming the award you want.
  • Confusing redeemable miles with elite-status qualification.
  • Ignoring taxes, fees, transfer times or cancellation rules.
  • Collecting miles without a realistic redemption goal.
